That's a lazy response to my point which I supported with data. If you don't believe the data I provided is correct, please provide a link that shows a different relationship of railroads' ton-miles to revenues generated by coal traffic.

Your question invovles a huge leap of logic. I've been a railfan for 40 years and not once have I ever been presented with a requirement that being a railfan requires uncritical support of the coal industry. There are many things I like about railroads, but I also have other interests, values and concerns. Coal will certainly continue to play a role in supplying this nation's energy needs, but I also believe that reducing America's reliance on coal is necessary to address a variety of environmental issues.
This view is supported by Warren Buffett, purchaser of the BNSF, who said on the Charlie Rose show that America must wean itself off coal. One can be pretty sure that Warren Buffett does not hate railroads.
