I've never seen this show, but a couple of my co-workers described it and I was appalled by what they told me.
As an alternative, I recommend watching PBS's American Experience shows. Some of them have brief railroad scenes, the most recent of which is the biography about Henry Ford. Other programs with railroad brief scenes covered the Panama Canal, Johnstown Flood and the Dust Bowl. A few shows were entirely devoted to rail subjects such as the Transconintental Railroad, Streamliners and the New York City subway.
Every time I watch American Experience, I feel intellectually and spiritually enriched which is not the case with most programs shown on the other major networks.
