The inpacted train was a BNSF WEST bound train according to many internet reports:
Here is the official Service Update from BNSF.
THe train symbol indicates the train was running from Clovis NM to Oakland CA (OIG Intermodal Gateway).
That makes this train a westbound now northbound by current UP Timetable and Rules on Tehachapi.
For the old timers under SP rules this would have been a westbound:

Derailment Update - Cliff, California
At approximately 3:35 PM CT Saturday, November 17, 2007 train S-CLOOIG3-14 derailed 8 cars blocking the single main track at Cliff, California. This location is approximately 100 miles north of Barstow, California.
BNSF personnel are on site and are coordinating efforts to return track back to service. The extreme characteristics of the site, on a hill into a tunnel, make estimating the restoring of the main track back to service a piecemeal process. Estimate 2:00 AM CT Monday, November 19, 2007 for returning main track back into service.
Customer may experience delays between 24 and 36 hours.
