TV Coverage of Former BN Site in CdA Tomorrow

Well, sort of. Carol Voss and others who have visited north Idaho but possibly not during winter will get a special treat on ABC's Good Morning America airing Wednesday 11/28 (check your local listings for time). The show will cut away several times during its 2-hour broadcast for live coverage of Coeur d'Alene's annual Christmas ("Holiday" for the P.C. Police) Lighting ceremony and fireworks show. It's actually a repeat of the big show they put on the Friday night after Thanksgiving, only this time it's in the wee, dark, cold hours of the morning. What's this got to do with trains? I guess it's more a matter of what it USED to do with trains. The event takes place on the front lawn of the CdA Resort, where BN's CdA Local used to cruise across the lawn on its way to and from Potlatch's Rutledge Mill 20+ years ago. They often parked the unit right on the lawn at lunch, and sometimes tied up there or on the nearby city park lawn at night when the crew outlawed. Would have been really sweet to have an orange GP38-2 idling there tomorrow for the cameras, with all the lights and fireworks in the background.
