I am a strong believer in historic preservation, but I am concerned that we are in danger of too many "museums" with "brick and mortar" budgets, which may lead to static exhibits, and not enough resources for conservation, restoration, and maintenance of such gems as 3751. Many of these groups need to learn to network and work together to not just "preserve" or "pickle" railroad history, but to conserve in good working order the equipment collections. It is the raw power of 3751 in steam that really educates and enlightens the future generations on the history of our railroads, as a verifiable fact.
