I know what you mean about prices. Heck, dining car china is worth more than a real dining car. I don't expect to find stuff for what it was 20 years ago, but I basicly quit my slide collecting (dupes = $15, originals at $50-125) and b&w neg collecting ($40-80 bucks for a roster shot) as prices shot up. This is NOT fun. What was fun was making prints and sharing them for $1 ea. of SP&S 700 & 900's from some negs. that I got for $3 a piece. Same for timetables, I'm happy with I have collected, and don't worry about filling in gaps in the UP, SP&S, GN & NP collection. Same with my Car & Locomotive Cycs./Dictionaries. The missing ones are just way to expensive to get. Who pays the big $$$ for what I consider typical collector items?
