A 27-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by an Orange Empire Railway Museum excursion train at about 1 p.m. Saturday in Perris, sheriff's officials said in a news release.
The train was heading north when it hit the man near West San Jacinto Avenue and D Street. The Perris museum offers visitors short rides on vintage trains traveling on the museum's railway.
Riverside Sheriff's Sgt. George Cowan said it was not clear why the man was standing on the museum tracks when he was hit. A coroner's news release identified the victim as Oscar Lopez-Ochoa of Perris.
