Now that the news is out it needs to be correct. I was on duty at OERM when this happened and was waiting at the dispatchers office for my next scheduled run with the P.E.418 which of course was scratched. The incident happened about one quarter mile north of San Jacinto Rd. in the north end of the town of Perris. The consist was Alco#1956 and two coaches going north bound. Later a museum officer relayed to us that the passengers saw the victum wait until the locomotive and one coach passed and then ran and dove between the trucks of the last coach. This is nearing the finish of out fiftyeth year for the museum and this is the first incident of this type, first fatality or serious injury, that I know of involving the museum. A friend who lives in Perris told me another young man fatally did the same thing the day before on the freeway in Perris.
