It got that nickname partly due to geography, since it's a line in the boonies that goes through a LOT of very pretty nothingness before it gets to anyplace worth rail service.

It also got that nickname because both during SP days and the POTB days, it's always been hanging on by a hair. Unlike the NWP it's at least been operating for the last decade. Still, its always one shoe-drop away from being gone for good.

Let's all hope someone bails it out with some repair money or it really *will* be the NWP of Oregon.
