I spotted these cars in an eastbound at LaGrande Saturday morning. They were about 15 cars back from the head end power. The local mechanical guy was looking over the cars apparently concerned about something hanging down below the cars.

I don't think these cars would have gone through Hinkle at all. I am suprised that they took so long to make it to Durkee. The eastbound was being held for a steel gang working around North Powder but it still took them almost 24 hours from LaGrande to the derailment site.
