Oregon Pacific Railroad Train Rides between Oaks Park & ORHF Museum This Saturday.

The Oregon Pacific Railroad will be hosting diesel train rides again this Saturday June 22 and also the following Saturday June 29 and Thursday July 4th and Saturday July 20th, Between Oaks Amusement Park and ORHF’s Oregon Rail Heritage Center. (SP&S 700, SP 4449 & O&RN 197 steam locomotive museum) More dates will be added later.
Trains will run between Oaks Station located directly across from Oaks Amusement Park at 7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, Oregon and the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, located at 2250 SE Water Ave, Portland, Oregon.
Tickets are only $5 round trip to ride on the train and $10 to ride in the cab of our locomotive.
One thing we’re doing a little different, is to better coordinate with the Oregon Rail Heritage Center during their hours of operation 1-5pm. Our train will now depart Oaks Station and arrive at the ORHC at scheduled times, allowing ORHC guests to board and take a round trip ride to Oaks and back to ORHC. Also visitors at Oaks Park can take a ride to the ORHC and deboard, visit the museum and catch a later train back to Oaks.
I would encourage anyone wanting to ride our train to take the opportunity to visit the museum at the same time. Either parking at Oaks and riding to the museum or parking at the museum and riding from there. The ORHC does not charge admission at this time, but of course, donations are gladly appreciated. Also, parking near the museum is usually much easier to find than at Oaks Amusement Park on busy weekend afternoons.
Our train this Saturday will be the OPR No. 1413, a rare GMD-1 diesel locomotive, our covered open air car, our No. 900 former Stimson logging caboose and Chris McLarney’s restored UP caboose. All are available for rides, including the locomotive.
