Mook, I apreciate your straight forward, and non-judgemental, reply...
OK, I just reread David's reply... I guess I misunderstood what he was saying. You're saying that the Roseville Subdivision goes all the way to Sparks. I thought David was saying that it ended at West Truckee. Understanding this, I think the California TT will do exactly what I want. Thank you for pointing this out to me.. I'll be buying that TT.
Because of a couple of the replies I got in this thread, I'd like to make it clear that I'm TOTALLY new to rail-fanning. I feel a little bit strange even describing myself as a "fan." At this point, I'm just a guy that happens to live in a house that's near the main line. Seeing the trains go by all the time, and then watching them suddenly stop, got me to wondering. (Turns out that they're working on the tracks.) Wondering a ittle bit. I'm not so interested that I want to race out and spend 50 dollars on TTs, for added perspective. (Perspective is the first TT. Rail-fanning is the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.)
MAYBE in the future I MIGHT become more interested. Interested enough to WANT to buy the second book. But at this point, 20 or 30 bucks? Maybe. 40 or 50 bucks? No. Not now, maybe later. Like almost everybody, I have to choose how to allocate my expendable cash.
