Has anyone else noticed that most manufacturing facilities are
next to freight lines?

Freight does not always remove trucks from the freeway. Sometimes
rail and trucks are complementary, rather than substitutes.
And, freight may induce the location of economic activity that
would otherwise locate somewhere else.

According to those in the know and based on trucking vs. freight
economics, freight hauls goods over 300 miles. Anything less
is shipped by truck.

Feel free to contradict this as I claim no expertise. It was just
something I was told.
