Question for the BNSF Rail Guy...

Why don't the RR's that employ CWR use these slip joints here? ()

Is it a matter of the gross tonnage here that would beat these things to a pulp? Sure, the axle loading in Europe is lighter, but could they make these more robust here to prevent kinks or slow orders?

These are widely seen on high speed lines all across Europe, generally near bridges.
