The OPR is continuing to offer train rides on Saturdays between Oaks Amusement Park and the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, in Portland, Oregon, for anyone that may be interested. The ORHC is the new home of the SP&S 700, SP 4449 and O&RN 197 steam locomotives.
Oaks Park is located at 7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, Oregon. The ORHC is located at 2250 SE Water Ave, Portland, Oregon.
Trains depart from Oaks Park on the hour beginning at noon and ending at 6pm and depart the ORHC at the other end on the half hour. So, visitors can ride from either end. Visitors can park at Oaks and ride to the museum, get off and visit and catch a later train back. Or visitors can park at the ORHC and ride to Oaks either round trip or get off and visit Oaks Park.
We only charge $5 per person round trip. Locomotive cab rides are only $10, but space is limited. This helps to cover some of our fuel costs.
The OPR is doing this largely to help encourage visitors to the new ORHC by providing a new attraction as well as an alternate way to get to the museum.
We are currently scheduled to operate every Saturday through September, although with our limited crew this could change.
Thanks for viewing!
