Interesting note on Amtrak power

The average Amtrak P42 is now 15 years of age. When the F40PH's averaged 15 years old, the Dash-8's were all in service and the P40's were in the process of being delivered. The newest P42's are 12 years old. When the newest F40's were 12, more than half of the P42's had been delivered and were in service. Despite all of this, no replacement road power for the P42's is in sight.
