Article author Amy Goetzman bemoans the fact that "nobody" remembers who James J. Hill was. Well, she obviously didn't talk with any railfans with any sense of history!
She also bemoans the lack of any monuments, other than his St. Paul mansion, to James J. Hill.
It is a bit of a stretch, but out here in the sticks of Washington we have the
Maryhill Museum of Art and
the Stonehenge Memorial. Both are located along the Columbia River at Maryhill WA. Both were built by Sam Hill who was James Hill's nephew. Sam Hill worked briefly in the GN's legal department and married James J Hill's daughter Mary.
