Re: Yahoo groups changes, any alternatives

I, too, absolutely detest the changes Yahoo
has made. I'd much rather pay for their
services, and have the choice to keep things
as they were.
(Ol' Fart: I, too, railfan almost exclusively
via my computer, so I know where you are coming
from.)
Sorry -- I know of no other comparable site
to Yahoo Groups. I tried suggesting to the
owner of one group I've been in for a while
that he migrate the group to TrainWeb -- but
he refused. :( BTW -- TrainWeb has been around
as long as the web has, and is very big, and, as
a real plus, is run by smart, caring railfans.
They love to provide free hosting for many websites.
(For a short while, that group successfully used a
workaround, but that didn't last. :( )
I detest the new FaceBook-like layout of the Yahoo
groups so much that I no longer visit any of my
groups.
Ans the less said about what Yahoo did to their
free mail service, the better. I now can only see
four lines of text when I read or type e-mail --
VERY irritating! I'd LOVE to find a really GOOD
e-mail service that I could pay for, but I have not
yet been able to find anything suitable. I'll let
everyone know if I ever find anything to replace Yahoo.
