To continue on Steveo's thought, We also are so resistant to change that where ever we end up; a considerable effort is made to make that place as much like where we are from as possible. Certain things cannot be transplanted. We in California are spoiled to some extent because everything is only a couple of three hours from wherever you are. Few other states make it possible to surf in the morning and be on the ski lift after lunch. That feature is tough to beat. It is like going to France and eating at the first McDonalds you see. To people that complain about where they are I say go back if you miss it so much. I myself am a potted plant as far as roots are concerned. Born in Ohio, moved to South Florida in time for the FEC strike (Ugly), Then to Maryland in time to see the beginning of the Penn Central and the last of the GG-1 , then To Southern California for the last 18 months of High School. I live in Northern Cal. now and have no desire to leave or to make where I am anything like anywhere I've been. I have gone back to all the places I have lived and can tell you without reservation that they are all good places to be from.
