Several comments here.....
1. Why would anyone in their right mind consider stored railcars an "eyesore", one that ostensibly would discourage tourism? These are modern intermodal well cars, beautiful examples of American ingenuity. Personally, I'd be more likely to visit a locale if it has any railroad activity as opposed to inactivity, and I consider myself a rather normal person when it comes to tourism. Who are these subhuman freaks who are so offended by the sight of railroad equipment being stored on a rail line? (Okay, maybe they're offended by all the graffiti. That I can understand!)
2. I wish BNSF would lease this line to MRL. MRL has a reputation of making the "unviable" viable again - I bet MRL could make this line a profitable one!
3. Per #2 above, wasn't this line once an important link for potash trains running from Canada to California? Indeed, the entire I-15 rail corridor is an underutilized one, and it would make sense for UP at least to be able to route NAFTA trains over this corridor to reduce congestion on the coast lines.
