I have never been to Sea-Tac, but there should be some sort of "other" transportation than just by rubber wheels. If I recall, Sea-Tac is on top of a hill. Most ALRT rail (ie. BART, SkyTrain) will only work up a hill for a mile at 4% grade before the train starts doing damage to the motors.
SkyTrain in Vancouver had a real time in the 90's getting the train on a path to the Downtown of Surrey through Bridgeview (King George-Gateway stations). They finally got smart and raised the speed out of King George to something like 75-80kmh/47-50mph to jump the hill.
The new "Airport/Richmond Line"-"RAV"-"Canada Line"- whatever they want to call it is on track to open before the Olympics. Last month, I got to see that it appears to be the joint between domestic and the international terminals, probably a fully enclosed walkway and people-movers like the rest of the terminal. A six minute drive from home to the SkyTrain, and a 45minute ride is all I will need. Sure beats a long 1hour-90minute drive by a relative.
Hope Sea-Tac can at least get it right. Hate to see a good thing with a bad design.
