Ten years ago the average per mile cost for
railroad construction was over 1mil per mile.
If there was a profit to be made UP would
not have pulled it out. Same goes for the
NP's Gardiner Branch. Only reason the "Q"
line is left is because there is still
freight into Cody year round.
