Wallowa-Union did pay off the railroad using the storage car money. Problem now is their isn't any freight traffic left, other than a few potential cars of propane and road dust spray.

Oregon Lottery money has also been used for track rehab projects on government owned shortlines. Not sure why Lottery instead of Connect Oregon funds were used.

Weren't the restricted tunnels only in the middle of the Siskiyou line? I seem to recall they could get the larger wood chipcars in from the south or north, but not through the middle. So if the south end was open, the tunnels wouldn't have been as big an issue?
