I hesitated on buying the Dale Sanders' WP book a few years, for the same reasoning. Once I was able to look through an opened copy, I saw enough new material ( especially the Oro Dam Constructors & the old WP Main ), that I did buy a copy. I will also want to look at a copy of Ted's new book before I buy.
Without knowing Bob Yanosey @ Morning Sun Books I can only quote the old adage in book publishing : " We can only print the pictures that we know about !!! " I have quite a few of the Morning Sun " ...In Color " books, and I believe Bob does a great job of publishing new authors and photographers. Joe Strapac has also published the work of quite a few new photographers in his Espee Historic Diesels series.
