For other examples, ACE Train employees are represented by the Operation Engineers union (more commonly associated with the construction trades), and in 1970 TE&Y employees on the Southern Pacific formed SPROC -

Operating
Crafts - after becoming disillusioned (to put it mildly) with the results of the 1969 multi-union merger that formed the UTU. SPROC would've represented TE&Y employees on the SP and it's associated subsidiaries. It was blocked by a co-effort of the UTU and SP, in a typical example of how the UTU has a history of getting in bed with the carriers. If Virlon sees this, maybe he can add his thoughts.
