I have been reading the Del Monte thread, that is what got me to thinking about Ft Ord.
I thought it was time to start a steam thread.

Ft Ord, the worlds largest poison oak patch. There were thickets of poison oak fifteen feet tall I don't think you could drive a tank through. It is possible I dreamed the steam passenger train, I had some pretty realistic dreams in the army. I think my mind wanted to be someplace else.

What time of day did the Del Monte go toward Monterey? As I remember it, some 56 years later it was around nine AM. We were on the rifle range one time, next to the bay.
