Other than being real cold, the last storm brought the first substantial snow of the season in this neck of the woods.

UP has been keeping one or two older SD units (usually older SD60s) in LaGrande for quite a while now. The Huntington local used to work through to LaGrande as needed, but I don't think they have been past Durkee in quite a while. The only active remaining rail customer I am aware of is a propane dealer between Baker at Haines, and an extra crew uses the LaGrande engines to service them as needed either turning back or tying up in Baker.

There is also a Jordan Spreader, snow caboose and a rebuilt SP flanger stationed in LaGrande. I did see the Jordan tied up in North Powder several years ago during one of the heavier winters.

I have to go over the hill to Boardman tomorrow, don't have time to foam but will see what I can.
