Sorry, WAF, but you're wrong about that! My notes state as follows:

May 1, 1969---"Extra 2720west left South Bay at 7:08 p.m. with 6 engines and 171 cars. X2720W met train #4 at South Bay."

May 19, 1969---(South Bay)---"NWP train #4 arrived at 6:45 p.m., and met a westbound freight here at 6:48 p.m. Freight was led by 6 units, 177 cars, and two cabooses. Train #4 arrived at Eureka station at 6:55 p.m."
