Gus Peterson! Thanks for the correction. Seems he had some health problems and had to fold.
Back before the NWP emargo, think early 1983, I recall one SW-1500 2500 series switcher dragging about 65+ loads all by itself from Arcata to Eureka and he was just grabbing the 5 or so cars from Arcata Redwood. That was probably a few days of loadings at that point, but still impressive.
I shouldn't be so critical of a project which I support, but I've never understood the logic behind the Timber Heritage Association purchasing a locomotive 3000 miles away that needs work when they have so many artifacts on hand that need attention in that terrible Humboldt County climate. The #37 is probably a million dollar project in itself at this point. Locos like PL #29, Hammond shay #33 or A&MR shay #7 could probably made operational for some less. I believe they are still finishing the locomotive move from Glendale to Samoa. That's gotta hurt. We all need to offer all the support we can to make this Humboldt Bay Museum come about.
