Didn't Weyerhaueser lose most of their logging-lines network eastward from Longview in the eruption? Is it accurate to say the remaining Longview-Green Mountain Mill line is the only surviving part of this network? The Toutle River crossing just west of the mill looks pretty new ... did the rushing river/ash/logs/debris possibly take out an older trestle there? And I'll bet the remaining segment was out of service for quite a while, too. Who out there can amplify these points?
