NP's 407-408 turned at Portland and used only one equipment set - I believe the schedule was 12:30pm out of Seattle, 4:30pm into Portland, 5:30pm return departure, back to Seattle 9:30pm. Crews loved it because it was a very profitable day - paid for 400 miles. Some NP diesel locomotives worked into Seattle on the North Coast Limited, went to Portland on 408, came back on a fast freight, went east again on #26. There was a thread awhile back on the Yahoo NP list about this.

UP turned their set at the Argo yard wye. NP and GN turned their equipment in Portland on the Lake Yard loop.
