LA Times Editorial long on rail transit bashing, but, apparently, short on facts. Unfortunately the authors assertions about LACMTA transit ridership, seem to contradict National Transit Database reporting which shows that LACMTA's huge gain over the last 6 years is coming mostly from increasing use of rail, as the system is expanding and connecting to more destinations. This is also reflected in the huge increase in transit passenger miles, which is almost entirely a function of the much longer rail trips. Gas prices of $3.50 a gallon aren't hurting rail ridership in LA either!
