Since you're talking numbers that approach Durango & Silverton you are certainly not going to
accomplish this with one steam locomotive. If you consider turning on a table at each end, or maybe a wye at the CC end you will need nearly three to four hours per trip. That's two trips
per day, maybe one in off season. On the plus side the tourist market in the Reno/Carson area is
pretty formidable. If you could conjure a 10-12 car train with 500 people per trip or 1000 per
day you'd have to say you were doing very well. That would take 150 days or the better part of
six months, not likely. Realistically you'd need three sets of motive power and probably 25 cars
to handle 100,000 people on a sane basis. Then there's the problems of meets, servicing and the
other things that pop up on a very hilly operation. The number is very optimistic and not too
realistic. 60,000 would seem more in line with reality and even then they would need two sets
of power to run every day.
