Legal campsites: WA. State
Money Creek USFS Campground, U.S. Hwy 2 just west of Skykomish, WA. Views of BNSF mainline action over Stevens Pass; great views of Skykomish River from some sites.
Larrabee State Park, State Hwy 11 south of Bellingham, WA. Overlooks BNSF main to Vancouver,B.C., beautiful views of Puget Sound sunsets in summer.Hike down to tracks.
Yakima River Cyn.,South of Ellensburg,WA. Various BLM Campgrounds, across river from BNSF line. Avoid fishing season, lotsa ATV'ers during summer.
Oregon - Deschutes River Cyn.,North of Maupin,OR. Various BLM Campgrounds, across river from Oregon Trunk RR tracks.Stark natural beauty of Eastern Oregon. Avoid Summertime, REALLY HOT & very little shade @ campsites. Go to campgrounds further north for fewer crowds.Dirt Road(former U.P. R of W) is REALLY ROUGH in spots though. Also, there's a nice city park in Maupin that fills up every weekend in summer;lotsa river rafting here. Some RV hookups,& coin - operated showers for scraping the grime off.
Tillamook area - Barview County Park, just north of Garibaldi. Right on the ocean with Port of Tillamook Bay RR on inland side. ( Maybe, if it reopens ). Lotsa camping here, everything from tents to full RV hookups; showers too. More to follow...:-)
