There is still a campground at the western end of Afton Canyon, south of I-15. The one time I drove the whole canyon there were NO trains due to m/w. Of course all the trains went through when I was in Nipton. For a few views of Afton Canyon, CLICK HERE. I traversed Afton Canyon after the Grand Opening of the Kelso Depot in Mojave National Preserve.
