Ironically, my favorite spot is "The Slide" below Fields, OR, on UP's ex-SP Cascade Line. Not to be confused the current slide near Frazier that closed the line in late January 2008!

This spot has parking for big RV's on Forest Service land, a great view of the tracks both directions, and beautiful lighting in the afternoons and into the evening.

Other places that I trackside camp are:

Avery, WA in the Gorge (BNSF)

Kirk, OR, (UP Klamath Falls to Eugene line about 30 miles north of Klamath Falls) at the end of the road at the Williamson River bridge. Good cat-fishing too!

Several places along the UP Shasta Line off US-97 near the former siding of Cougar with views of Mt. Shasta.
