I had to get up early this morning to get the 2-inches if nice, fresh, white, global-warming-matter from my driveway. Now, the brisk north wind (which will "warm" the area from last night's 20 to zero tonight) is drifting it back across. The normal dampness on the west side of this once-fine State is seriously affecting the electorate and their elected. They ignorantly enact a law which does not count electricity made from the action of water flowing downhill (which they have an abundance of)--because they don't allow it to be considered "renewable". They instead call for more energy from solar and wind, which we have enough of on this side of the State, but that they don't have as much on the side that uses much more of it. Like the elites in Martha's Vinyard who fought offshore windmills because it affected their pristine views, it now comes down to where to locate the turbines and solar arrays. "Over there" (of course) in the answer, but how do you connect "over there" to "here"? The guy in my office who heads the power transmission and distribution group is ecstatic about the potential of new substations and more of those visually appealing power lines crossing the Cascades. What will the Greenies do when the power companies apply for new rights-of-way to clear-cut for those? It won't matter though because, "I feel better about my actions to lessen my carbon footprint. (Now, where did I put the keys to the Suburban?)".
