OMG.... So he's a demographer these days. I knew him, way back when......
I think the CHSRA was based on designing the most expensive system possible, by and for, a few A & E firms, with no proper oversight, and no particular interest in meeting actual travel needs or deficiencies, in our woefully congested state.
That being said, this is a nice slick example of propaganda from the other extreme, that's opposed any and all such endeavors, not just this one (though this is such an easy target?, based on an equally dubious history of questionable analysis and self justification, of a purely ideological bent.
And, yet, I actually agree with some "technically sound" analysis work done recently by his old pal Tom Rubin, on the likely poor performance of urban "bus-lanes" ("repurposed/take a mixed flow lane" projects???) being touted as a cure all by certain so-called/self styled "new urbanist" types.
So while Wendell makes a good case with some critiques of the CHSRA, which has been this profoundly dysfunctional example of stupidity, it must always be remembered that even a broke clock is right twice a day.......
So the Doctor recommended that I take it with a grain of salt....twice a day, or as needed.
