Back to Mexico, here's a photo I took TWENTY-TWO years ago, on April 03, 2000, at Cardenas, SLP where our special three-car
High Iron Travel inspection train received a crew change. Cliff Prather was nice enough to forward to me a track profile of the Tamasopo District, obtained from a NdeM employee timetable. As you can see, it looks like it would be a pretty difficult line to try and run 10,000 ton unit trains over, but who knows what they're doing with distributed power. I saw some wrecked covered hopper cars on the side of the right-of-way as we were climbing out of Tomasopo, and it looked like they were shipping some sort of bulk commodity through the port of Tampico.
