"Railfan" and "foamer" are often used interchangably. That said, I agree with crmeatball in that in 40 years of railfanning (or foaming) I've encountered many railfans who lacked social skills.
I nearly always opt to ride steam excursions rather than chase them by car. On the few occasions when I just want take photos, I pick one spot, enjoy the train coming through, get my photos and leave to do something else.
There is no connection between my quoting a satirist/and comedy movie actor than my views on the Westboro Baptist "Church" and the Christian community at alrge. It's really bizarre that you would even make such a connection.
