SP SW900 rebuild before and after

This is a before and after series on one of SP's SW900s as it was in 1974, the year it got rebuilt. The most immediate appearance change is to the light package...

SP 1172, an SW900, keeps company with TR6A 1102 at the Links Yard in Los Angeles in January 1974.

Reportedly (sources) SW900 SP 1172 was built in June 1954 as SP 4626, Class DF-306 serial number 19641 order number 427 frame number 4276–1. Changed to Class DS-606 in 1963. Renumbered to 1172 in 1965, Class ES409-2 rebuilt in October 1974 to SP 1193 Class ES409E-1. It was sold to Levin Metals in October 1987. It went to National Railway Equipment (NRE) in 1988 and then 1992 to AG Products Terminal 100, in Clayton Iowa. Current status not known.

Southern Pacific SW9E 1193 is in San Jose, CA in October 1974.
