SP S6 1220 in Oakland

SP Alco S6 1220 is in Oakland, CA, on an unknown date in May 1974. According to "OPRRMS", "One of the Emeryville jobs leaving the west end of the SP-to-Santa Fe transfer yard and heading towards the 16th Street Interlocking. This yard was located immediately adjacent to the Oakland Terminal overpass, and at the time was used by SP to interchange cars going to the Santa Fe. (Cars from the Santa Fe were received at Santa Fe's Emeryville Yard.) The tracks in the right background belong to the Santa Fe. The east end of the yard was at 34th Street. The yard was also used by the OT to interchange with the Santa Fe."

Reportedly (sources) S6 SP 1220 was built by ALCo in June 1956 as SP 1053, SP Class DS-11, construction number 81724, order number S-3255. It became SP 1220, SP Class AS409-3 in the 1965 renumbering. It was retired January 1976 to Chrome Crankshaft and became Tacoma Municipal Belt Railway 950, then Vancouver Warves 21, renumbered 821. April 1996 it went to Canadian Rail Service becoming Dow 1009. Disposition unknown after that.
