Update on the effort to save BN 6644 / MRL 390

Unfortunately, our fundraising project to save the BN 6644/ MRL 390 (an EMD F45) fell short of the goal. Per information from Progress Rail, MRL 390/BN 6644 has been sold to another entity and MRL 392 is already well in the process of being scrapped. While this concludes our efforts to save one of those locomotives, we at Dynamic Rail Preservation would like to thank the railfan community for their donations and help in this endeavor. We also cannot help but wonder if our campaign to save MRL 390 from the scrapper’s torch raised awareness of its impending demise and possibly helped led to securing its future, albeit via another path. Along with the rest of the railroad preservation community, we eagerly await further announcements about the future of MRL 390 from its new owner, whom ever that may be. Dynamic Rail Preservation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) California non-profit corporation.
