Go into the engineering dept. I started out as a surveyor with the UPRR in'74; on my dime (salary tho). Went to the Rock Island in '76 as a "Cost Engineer". Went from Ark to Okla, Dallas to Ft. Worth, Joliet, IL to Bureau, IL, all at company expense, meals, rooms, auto.
