I too question this deal. Tacoma Rail at present has only a few customers on their Mountain Division, mostly inbound loads for Boeing and a steel fab plant in Frederickson. The current traffic doesn't even tax the capacities of the SD-40 & SD-45 that Tacoma Rail bought especially for the line, to the point that I have seen the GP-40's used as power instead. Maybe TR is expecting new business on the line ???
With Progress Rail now using the former CEECo shop in Tacoma, and Progress Rail ( read Caterpillar ) also owning EMD, perhaps the Demos will be demonstrating on the steep grades up the Tacoma Gulch ???
