There is a posting over on The Other site (Western Board) that discusses problems with the SP/UP Lucin Cutoff causeway across The Great Salt Lake.
Wes posted that the causeway is on its last legs. Is UP perhaps considering abandoning the causeway? If so, what would be the alternative, rebuild the original CP/SP line to the north or build a second main line along the existing WP line?
The WP line was facing problems years ago with a rising lake level, so would it perhaps be better to rebuild the CP/SP line?
I did find a related news story regarding the causeway on the Salt Lake Tribune web site, which was dated Nov. 7, 2013.
