Understand that the air line is nothing more than supply to the braking system. It runs at maximum
set pressure and stays there. Braking force is modulated at each car relative to an input signal
(electronic) which can locally monitored to reduce wheel lock (slip). If one goes to a panic input
ie full line pressure you're at the mercy of wheel vs steel rail and you're stopping won't be
much better than it is now. The one advantage is that as long as you've got line pressure you've
got breaks. You can come down off Mt. Whitney and never have to release to recharge the system.
