"Survivor" contestant loses life working as conductor

Stumbled into this on the news. I think this is might be the former Birmingham Southern that Watco picked up a few years. While not that of an unusual accident (sadly, at least on the limited info available), it may end up being fairly high profile. Photos of the track look questionable, but telephoto lenses tend to distort how bad it really is. Could have been gauge or something on the rail, but forgetting a derail or sideswipe also possibilities. Not sure what jurisdiction OSHA has since this should be FRA only unless it was on plant's property.

Remember to always have a way to escape when riding cars. Being able to get on or off moving equipment isn't always a bad thing, and is more valuable than a train proof vest in a situation like this. Watco is one of those companies that declares "All accidents are preventable." We will have to wait and see if this gets enough attention to result in any real and reasonable safety improvements.
