Supervisor (Benedict) Arnold is wrong on both counts and has put her mouth in gear before fully engaging her brain again. Her allegation that the NWP trestle at Novato Ck caused flooding is unfounded . Her own public works dept. remains coy but has been very appreciative of NCRA efforts to keep the trestle clear of debris. The trestle collects debris but does not hold back water or cause flooding. Years ago about three hundred feet downstream dredging stopped. At this point the flood control channel reduces in width by two thirds causing water to back up and flood. Last week county officials on site during flooding asked rail crews to breach the levee. The levee was breached with rail crew equipment on site at no cost to the county, to prevent flooding upstream . This act of good will on the rail crews part would have gone unnoticed until MS Arnold started maliciously pointing the finger at the NCRA By the way, their own sixty inch culvert right next to the breach was inoperable hence they called on the rail crew to breach the levee. As the article stated, had the lawsuit been dropped the contractor would have been repairing that trestle. If Marin county thinks having a railroad is a problem imagine the all problems they would have to deal with if the NCRA walked away
