Makes sense. Most of the Bredas are 20 years or more old, and IIRC they haven't been trouble-free though arguably better than the Boeings. And they do need more cars to operate the Chinatown line with. Slight point, though - these are technically not "streetcars" they're LRVs.

Interesting that they're buying the "high floor" version - probably for compabitility with the subway platforms. Which probably means a modern version of the moving stairs - could get interesting.

Buying from Siemens means they don't have to pay somebody extra to set up an assembly plant in the US for one (or a few, if others buy in) production runs. Siemens is already here, and can make most of the car in the US not just assemble it here. I suspect they'll pay a premium for the name, though.
